Curriculum Update: January 17 - 20

This week we will continue our study of space, specifically looking at the phases of the moon. Each month our moon passes through eight phases. These phases are named after how much of the moon we can see, and whether the amount visible is increasing, or decreasing each day.

For the next few weeks we will be exploring the wonders of space! What causes day and night? What causes the seasons? What are the phases of the moon? Is Pluto still considered a planet?? Students should be prepared to boldly go where no man has gone before!

Curriculum Update: January 3 - 6

Before the holiday break, students were introduced to persuasive writing (AKA opinion writing). This week, students will continue learning about the different parts of a strong persuasive writing piece such as an introduction and citing evidence to support their reasons. Persuasive writing is a powerful tool for expressing one's opinions, and students will learn to use persuasive writing as an outlet to inspire change in the world around them.
