Welcome to 3rd Grade!

Welcome to our classroom blog!  This year is going to be one filled with learning, fun, and many memories!  Here are a few details you will need to know for this week...
  • Students will need appropriate shoes for P.E. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
  • Our school day begins at 8:00am and ends at 3:00pm. Students need to be picked up by 3:15pm.
  • Weather permitting, we will have outdoor recess daily.  We will not go outside when the heat index reaches 95 degrees.  Students may bring a water bottle to drink in class, and a hat to wear during recess.
  • There will be a Parent Meeting on Thursday, August 4, at 6:00pm.  I will be presenting extremely important school and class information at the meeting, including procedures and expectations for the school year. Please make it a priority to attend.
  • If you are interested in being a room parent, or our classroom librarian, please email me at jhrris14@memphis.edu.
  • Be sure to check the blog - as well as your child's planner - for nightly assignments. Homefun is a little different in 3rd grade. Your child will complete Homefun nightly, and return it the following day.
  • The annual $25 supply fee is due as soon as possible. This covers your child's planner, blue communication folder, and testing materials. Checks may be made out to CSPN. Please remember, this is not the same as our support drive.
I hope I have given you all of the information that you need for the start of the new school year.  Please send me any questions you may still have, and I will send you a prompt reply...

Welcome Savvy Sailors!!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 3rd grade! My name is Jennifer Smith, and I will be your child’s teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. I am thrilled to begin my third year teaching here at Campus School! Just to let you know a few things about myself…I received my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis. My husband is a Shelby County Firefighter, and we have two incredibly spoiled boxers. We can frequently be found chasing them around Shelby Farm’s Dog Park or running on the Greenline. I am looking forward to working with both you and your child, as we embark upon an exciting new adventure together here at Campus School!

The 3rd grade brings challenges, enjoyment, and amazing changes, and it is a journey that we will all be on together! Since all children are unique, they will naturally proceed at their own rate. Therefore, it is important to celebrate each and every achievement along the way. This means not only supporting your child’s academic growth, but his or her emotional, social, and physical growth as well. By being involved in your child’s education, you are helping to set the stage for success in the 3rd grade, and beyond!

The 3rd grade supply list can be found on the Campus School website. We use a community approach for supplies that are collected during the first week of school. Therefore, please do not label your child’s items. This method will help our classroom supplies last longer, and remain better organized when they are put into the class pool.

Rules and procedures will be discussed as a class during the first week of school, and I look forward to going over all of our classroom expectations, as well as our yearly overview, on Parents’ Night. If you have any questions that you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact me by phone at 568-3873, or email at jhrris14@memphis.edu. I cannot stress enough how important it is to work together in order to ensure the success of your child. With this in mind, I want you to know that my door is always open. I will be in contact with you throughout the year with classroom blog updates, emails, notes, progress reports, and conferences. We are going to have a phenomenal year!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Smith
